Dr. Michael L. Blute, Jr has extensive experience and background in education, serving as an assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Creighton University, and most recently at Wayne State University/Karmanos Cancer Center Department of Urology.
He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA) with a bachelor’s degree in history, and attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where he graduated with honors in courses including Anatomy, Medicine and Surgery, Microbiology, and others. After completing a surgical internship at the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Blute performed urology research at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY before becoming a urology resident at North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital at Hofstra Northwell University in Hempstead, NY.
As a Urologic Oncology Fellow at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Blute received appointments to University of Wisconsin Hospital and William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He also completed numerous clerkships and research through the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Blute has been published multiple times in such prestigious journals as the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Journal of Urology. He has presented over a dozen abstracts at numerous conferences and meetings.
Dr. Blute is a member of the American Urological Association and serves as a Journal reviewer of peer-reviewed articles for European Urology, the Journal of Urology, and Urologic Oncology Seminars.
